Too late to minor prune nectarine?

This nectarine has been in ground for 1 full year. I pruned it before bud break ~ a month ago by 1/3 of last year’s growth. Now it’s about 6 ft tall. Is it too late to cut back by 5-6 inches where my red lines are or is it OK? On the left side below the cut, I like that that branch is going outward. On the right side below the cut, there is an outward bud.

That should be absolutely fine.

Not too late. Many folks prune peaches and nectarines in full bloom. My nectarines tend to be very vigorous, and i wait until they are leafing out. Pruning before shuck split will make your first brown rot and curculio spray easier.

It’s perfectly fine. You can prune throughout the year
