Would I be foolish to try to transplant some 2β tall blueberry bushes (which are in too shady a spot) at this time of year (mid August) as spring is so busy a time. Temps in the 70s predicted for all week, possible rain. I thought maybe I could slide them onto a tarp and lift into my truck to haul them the 13 miles to new location. Some bushes have been in their present location for 10 years without producing. Have nice deep green foliage, but no berries. They are various varieties, several Dukes and others. North end of Zone 4.

Wait until they go dormant and they will be fine. In the meantime you can pre dig the holes. Long story short now equals shock, dormant they wonβt even notice.

like Don said. mulch well to prevent frost heaving.
I kind of figured that. Thanks for talking some sense into me!

Over dormant season, you can also prune some of the top growth since the plants should be cut back with the root loss. Then it is much easier to dig up the pruned plants.
Also, in my area, soil is very dry in summer and it is extremely hard to dig the hard clay. Much more moisture from October to spring time.
