My male Buckthorne has sent out several sucker plants that I need to transplant to create more space for my female trees. Should I best wait until fall after it they go dormant? Wondering if anyone else has this? My plants are several years old. Advise if you know best approach

I have sea buckthorn but I just got them this spring. Quite the popular plant so I am sure someone knows.
Are you trying to save all the male sprouts to plant elsewhere or are you just wanting to remove the extras? If you just want to remove them you could probably shade them to death and avoid disturbing the root system for your main tree.

I want to save them for others who want them

Probe and determine how deep these suckers start underground; if not too deep, consider potting them up and see if they survive that way for future give-aways. Otherwise they are being dug up twice, perhaps with not a lot of time lapse.
I have a couple of Titan female air layers to replace them, just wondering best time of year to pit them up?
