Tree Fertilizer spikes?

Anyone here utilizing tree fertilizer spikes? I ordered some fertilizer on sale at amazon and they were sent to me by mistake. I was allowed to keep them for free. not sure if anything I’m growing would benefit from them.

I’m growing:
Blackberries
pawpaw
jujube
goumi
persimmon
cornelian cherry
mulberry
clove currant
heart nut
gooseberry
figs
Black Raspberries

The spikes are frowned upon because it’s too concentrated in one spot. Crushing or dissolving them should be better.

These have killed my things in my very beginning of every thing. Gotta be careful with these.

I would crush them up and only use a little just in case. Then add more throughout the season

I bought a bunch of them at a clearance sale for a $1 a pack. The instructions say to use like 6 of them for a one gallon pot, so they can’t be that concentrated. I used them to surround a couple newly planted trees. I guess we will find out if it was a mistake or not.

Note: Yours have a lot higher nitrogen content than mine did.

I actually used Jobes spike fertilizer last spring, no issues at all. Spiked them two days ago around my apple trees, just following a drip line.

I use Lutz Ultra tree spikes for all of my in ground fruit and ornamental trees. It’s important to place them 2-3’ away from the trunk of each tree to avoid burning the roots. Our Loquats put on so much growth last year thanks to these spikes applied in early to mid April in our climate. They also have citrus specific spikes which a friend of mine has been using for years in Augusta, GA with no adverse effects.
