Too much water can often look like not enough water. Check your ground before you just start irrigating. If you’ve had lots of rain, and soil moisture is high, additionall watering may exacerbate the issue.

Well. We had food in NY. And all week it was raining. I also have mulch in that area
But other than that I’m never watering. It is raining a lot here. I’m just afraid it’s fungus. How will I know ?
Don’t water for a bit and if it gets better it was too much water. If you’re super concerned its fungus find a spray labeled for the type of tree and fungus you think it is.
