Burned firewood in two charcoal grills, ran one propane double burner and one propane torch. Propane was used on the pears, which are the most vulnerable. Double burner kept its tree frost free. The torch kept 2/3 of its tree frost free, the rest had slight frost.
Both wood fired grills kept both peach trees frost free. Careful placement and 30-45 minute monitoring was needed to ensure safety and success for all of them. The propane stuff stayed in place. The grills did need movement based on heat and smoke (max heat without damage).
80% of the pears were gone from the previous night (too windy), but looks like I saved the tightest ones. Winter took most peach buds, but at fist pink I think the 20-30flowers/tree survived the 21 degrees for 5 hours last night.
The propane double burner was by far the easiest and most effective. I am also ordering some cheap kerosene lamps from amazon and will be trying those out too if needed. Hoping for warm weather for me and everyone else!
