Understanding grafting

There are a small percentage of people that graft but fewer understand grafting and the details of how it actually works. The purpose of this post is not the mechanics of grafting but rather the details of how it really works. How graft unions heal, ideal temperatures, compounds used etc. are widely debated. This document has the details many new and senior grafters are looking for https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/faculty/davies/pdf%20stuff/ph%20final%20galley/M11_DAVI4493_08_SE_C11.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwjTpYmUiOXTAhXDIJoKHcWGBfwQFghCMAk&usg=AFQjCNFgx78JKESfvp0-fhxKomQbkaKO9g&sig2=T-xVxhgwTo0vBPrFAwPJcg . I’m sure other people can add a lot to this thread but my purpose is to repost this document I’ve previously posted for clarification of concepts. If your looking more for the mechanics of growing fruit or grafting I would look at this post The best 96 pages on growing fruit I've found!.
