Oh no, those 2 are our favorites here. It would be good to have 3 favorites instead of 2 haha and they might end up either early or late ripening, fingers crossed. I hope late ripening like around Sept-Oct. I dont have Oblinaya and Kuban comet but looking to graft some maybe next year. Do you recommend them?
This will be the first year to try them so I can’t say much more other than they grow very well. Once they ripen I can let you know how they compare with others we have.

Oh yours has fruit too like Vincent. Keep us posted. Thanks!
@John_P my cherry plum seedling for some reasons seems like it won’t keep its fruitlets to mature for this time. All fruitlets turned yellow and dropped. Fruit trees sometimes growing and developing not the same way we thought. I keep hoping to taste the fruits for next coming later seasons. I will update here if anything changes in the end this summer.(5.19.23)
That is really sad to hear. Hopefully next year. We still have Dennis fruit.
How are things going this year
My very cherry plum still the same every year not setting fruit at all. Some big pruning coming soon and maybe removed the tree if the same problem keep happening after nex year.
What do you have available to provide pollen for it? Has anyone else had luck getting fruit to set?
I have sweet treat Pluerry near by about 10 ft
ill adopt/dug the cherry plum in fall/winter if you decide to trash it. : )
Not yet just pruning.
That interesting, I think my grafts are 2 years old now. Maybe next year it will flower. I need to see if I can locate it!

Have you noticed if the Sweet Treat Pluery and VVC flower at same times? I have not tried to watch both so I’m not sure if they do
Dennis
Very cherry plum seedling bloom about 1 week + after sweet treat. Fortunately sweet treat blooms period a few weeks long . They’re overlapping bloom each other. @DennisD
Hi Vincent, that may be the reason that Sweet Treat is not cross pollinating to your expectation, because the most fertile or receptive time for the stigma is the initial 3-4 days just after it’s blossom opens, by then your Sweet Treat anthers have probably already shed their pollen. You might need to save pollen from Sweet Treat to hand pollinate VVC, or identify a variety that opens blossom just a day or two prior to VVC. It’s something I will try to do next spring. One of my best pollinators here is my native cherry and my Methley plum. So let’s try next spring to find a better match!

I also had Splashed Pluot next to Verry Cherry seedling now. Hopefully it helps.
Hopefully,
I grafted some Splash scions from Jafar this spring and they may also blossom next spring so I can compare notes with you. In my notes last year and this year I did not make a record of VVC, if I can locate the graft, hopefully it’s still tagged, then I can observe it next spring.

The Zaigers published their latest patent, Sweet pixie 6, a cross between Sweet pixie (verry cherry plum) x an apricot.
