Weird bark stripping on oak

Thankfully, this is not the same oak that had half of its leaves eaten by a deer that I just posted about.

This is a grafted Q. x bebbiana on bicolor rootstock. The rootstock is three years old.

I guess is this is some type of frost cracking because we had 0° temps with no snow cover, and bright sunshine this winter.

The bark appears to have basically cracked off almost all the way around the base of the trunk. It does look like a small part is still connected, but I can’t tell how it is underneath. So far, it appears to be leafing out normally, but do you think it’s a goner?

Anyone?

I wouldn’t worry about that, trees need very little connective tissue to be OK and it will heal over time. It does look like it cracked due to temperature changes.
