One shoot on my ‘Diane‘ sweet potato vines has this weird form. I know there’s a word for it that escapes me. I assume it won’t affect the crop?

Fasciation. That’s the word.
Very weird. Are you going to eat the purslane growing next to it?
Usually doesn’t affect fruit. Just a survival mutation usually due to stress.
Not sure where you’re at but it happens a ton in Colorado when the hail is a lot.

I have a huge amount of purslane every year and I can’t make myself try to eat it

I steam the purslane stems/leaves and put spaghetti sauce on them. Taste as good or better than regular spaghetti.

Sounds delicious actually. I’ll have to remember for next season.
Thanks
