What apples and pears do to your stroke risk

A good read. The white fleshed fruits getting some love. We tend to think of dark red and purple fruits as being the healthiest and that is likely so but the whote fleshed fruits like apples and pears have the highest levels of the anti-oxident quercetin.

So a red fleshed apple or pear might be really healthy.

I’m hoping so…if all my grafts take I’ll have 18 different ones with red flesh.

I looked up quercetin in pears. Compared to berries, some vegetables and most other fruits, pears have some but very little quercetin. Only oranges and grapefruit have less. Pears may be healthy but I don’t see where quercetin is the reason why.

Pears do however have a host of beneficial compounds. In addition to low amounts of Quercetin they contain certain compounds shown to fight asthma and other problems.
