I found these bugs falling off my plum tree when I were spraying it on 4/6. I thought they were plum curculios, but I was told they were not. Could someone please help me to identify them? I do remember seeing them last year as well. If they are pests, I need to find a way to control them. Thanks!
Possibly a type of March Fly, but certainly a fly of some kind.
Adults feed at flowers or on honeydew; larva are ground-feeders.
They should not bother fruit trees.
The females have small heads.
