What Ate My Strawberry Leaves & How to Protect Them?

Came home after work to find my Strawberry leaves stripped completely off. Stems still intact. What ate these? I find it really strange… We have groundhogs nearby, but I think they’ve been scared off. We don’t see much animals, and finding a deer in my backyard is incredibly rare.

What should I do, haha. Will a bird net do anything?

Deer?. Rabbits may not be able to reach the center of the pots.

I’d say deer.

Deer, huh? I guess I’ll be on the lookout. We really don’t get any because I’m in a busy residential area.

Looks for some deer foot prints. They will leave some on soft ground.

I’d vote deer as well. I have not seen any birds or rodents that take a fancy to strawberry leaves. The berries yes but not the leaves. But deer love the leaves.

If you have a game camera setting it up might give you the answer (at the expense of loosing a few more leaves).

So it’s definitely a deer. Cherry leaves and Mulberry leaves eaten as well when I checked this morning. What’s the best way to deter them?

Deer liquid fence instant relief. A dog or a fence for permanent solution.

Well I sprayed the affected plants/trees with that stuff. Lets hope it works.

Looks like literally everything likes the leaves on my White/Black Gold Cherry trees. First the Japanese Beetles and now the deer too.
