What can I do with this persimmon seeding?

This grew from seed in a Fuyu persimmon . I know Fuyu persimmon is seedless but occasionally, there are some seeds inside. Can I grow it into some kind of root stock, or just wait patiently till it fruits in number of years?

Annie it never hurts to try but my fear would be the chicago burbs are way too cold. Get advice from people besides just myself, it will almost certainly be better, but if it was me I would either try growing it out as it is to see what you got, as protected as you can make it, or if I used it for stock it would be for something like Brock and then I would make sure to bury at least a couple inches below the graft line, expecting the American to take over anyway in time

Gift it to someone in a warmer climate lol

Fuyu - Reddish-orange fruits have a sweet, crisp, mild-tasting flesh. The fruits ripen in midseason and can hold on the tree for up to two months. The trees are hardy to USDA zone 8.

Annie, since it’s Futyu seedling, cold hardiless is questionable.

If it were I, I would keep it as a potted tree. It may take couple of years before it can be grafted on. You may want it leave a couple of branches to see what the fruit will be like and graft the rest.

I have a potted persimmon seedling that I have gratfed a few varieties on, mostly less cold hardy ones as they can be sheltered.

Thank you all for the recommendations. You all got me more curious about this little tree now. I feel I want to keep it in pot , just to see what it might turn out :grinning:if it survived
