Yesterday… I ate some Heritage red raspberries and a few Isons muscadines.
I picked a few chimes of elderberries and froze those.
I have CHE fruit just almost ready and figs and more persimmons WS8-10 starting to show ripe color.

These were the first two I have tasted and they weren’t bad but also not very flavorful. Have only been in the ground a few months though so I’ll give them more time to improve.
Digression alert: Smoosh is a term I shall remember.
It brings to mind what we call a thankful kiss after eating a piece of apple pie made by the Better Half with Maiden Blush and Lamb Abbey (and likely to happen again later in the year when Gold Rush comes ripe): Smoochas Gracias.
Rolling and milking, huh? I am going to have to try that. I did try a blueberry picker once, can’t remember on what, may have been a Pixwell gooseberry. I haven’t tried it since. But since Goumi and autumn olive are so small, picking each one individually is not even an option!
They are from Morocco.

reminds me i need to harvest mine all growing in 20 gal. pots. got russian banana, norland reds and caribou russets.
I’m growing Caribou as well, their tops are still going strong though.
mine are still green as well. probably wait on harvesting them a little later.
I harvested some Starking Delicious and Moonglow pears and let them ripen several days on the counter. I ate quite a few fresh, and decided to make a pear pie also. At the last minute I threw in some frozen blueberries given to me by a friend last year just to use them up and because I like to try new combos. So glad I did.
I like the pear-blueberry combo way better than just pears alone for a pie, and the blueberries added a beautiful color to the pears. Now I am thinking a pear-blueberry jam would be delicious. Those two fruits just really go together well. My husband and I both quite liked the flavor of the pie.

i just harvested about 30 large cymes off of my york. theres still 15-20 more that need to be harvested. my huge johns which has way more than york has been keeping the birds in the side yard busy. they just really discovered them this year. mostly house sparrows in it from dawn till dark. im guessing there will be alot of black elder popping up soon in all the fields that surround me.
dont know if the marges will get to ripen. they are just starting to color up and theres a light frost forcasted tonight.
I had 6 nice ripe CHE berries today… very nice perfectly ripe watermelon flavor… but not watery like a watermelon … more syrupy like a berry fig.
Also… several Herritage red raspberries.
Had 6 delicious CH Figs yesterday.

It really makes a lot of sense to me that blueberry would be so good with pear!
If you look at the ingredients of fruit items, a lot of the time pear is mixed in, even though that is not the main ‘theme’ of whatever you are buying.
That’s elderberry? They look so much like blueberries! Is this the other type I’m blanking on that’s native to west coast?
I have some blue elderberry. They’re supposed to be native, but I havent seen any where I live. I like them a lot. I put a few in just about everything I cook this time of year and juice some, too.
