First real garden dinner … ratatouille, basil and shishitos from the garden … penne and faux balls from the store.
Had more badger flame beets today. Haven’t had to buy any vegetables since about mid May. Hopefully I get there with fruit as my treees start to come in in the next few years lol
Tonights dinner included the first of the Nectar babe Nectarines, a singular (so far) Spice Zee Nectaplum that the sugar ants got to first but I took back, and an express cabbage that wasn’t as “express” as I hoped but still tastes pretty good!
I should have taken pictures, but over the weekend I made homemade tagliatelle with basil pesto. Pesto was made in our mortar and pestle from my emerald towers basil.
Where’s mine?
I’ll have green beans, tomatoes, okra, potatoes, and sweet corn for dinner tomorrow. All are from my garden.
Green beans, tomatoes, okra, potatoes, sweet corn, cucumber, and a couple of mild peppers are on the table tonight. My beans are just now getting to the point where they are producing at their peak. I love the Alabama #1 beans because they are so incredibly productive. I grew a short section of “goose” beans which are strictly for green shellies. They are at the perfect stage to be picked, i.e. they mature relatively early which is a useful trait in short season areas. I also have some Turkey Craw which gave a good yield today. They are unique because the can be used as snaps, green shellies, dry beans, and as leather britches.

just put a raspberry pie in the oven. my grand daughter helped me pick the berries this morning. used chia instead of flour as the thickener. hope it comes out good. will have some for breakfast before going to church tom.
my aunt Mona used to make everything with zucchini my father grew for her. her bread had choc chips and walnuts in them. man that woman could cook! those look delicious!
I thought about putting in some nuts but decided to stick with the recipie!! (I am notoriously bad at not making additions!)
Thank you!
