Yes, Family Tree Farms. I’ve been saving the seeds and will try to grow them out.
Ate a 24.6 brix Geo Pride from my tree today. Very richly flavored IMO. Better than the 20.5 brix Valley Sweet peach or the cantaloupe I also had for lunch.
I ate a couple of those Gurney’s nectacots because they exploded on me (split like a cherry). Have no idea if this is normal, but the tree only has 6 fruit and its huge and we’ve had 2 inches of rain in the last 2 days. Very juicy, very apricoty, sweet… the pit is on the small side and dark. They are small. Maybe i’ll get a bigger sample size next year. I’ll get some pics in the next few days when i eat a couple more.
thanks for the feedback of the nectarcots, added it to my wanted list。
I ate a Hale Haven Peach today , due to ripen in September. It had some soft spots but it wasn’t quite ripe, but was pleasantly crisp mostly, not quite hard. Still fun to eat and share with the wife. There’s a couple more in direct sun also almost ripe, but the more shaded ones are very green yet. I may only get a dozen peaches, but at least they will be spread out.
These looked so nice i bought a box (and the box was fancy so that helps). 10 to a box. $6.98…label says Kent. Sam’s Club.
Best mangoes i’ve ate this year…my son agreed. Usually store bought mangoes are garbage around here. These must be more tree ripened.
They also “smelled” right…like a tropical fruit should smell. Not a huge mango eater, but these were worth it.
It must be mango season, my local grocery store had mango on sale for $2.99 a box,i bought two boxes, they are so sweet and juicy.I absolutely love mangos,f fresh,or made into drink…
So much to chose from right now. I bought a bag of nectarines and almost bought another bag of those new very cherry plums.
My wife has been buying me mangoes for the last two weeks, they have been spectacular. I love a nice soft mango
My grocery store has Ebony Rose plums (they keep them in the boxes they come in). Pretty good. Very dark flesh/big fruit (Patent shows 2013, so pretty new). Probably put a few seeds in the ground and see what comes up in the spring.
Just had an Orient pear straight from the tree. The larger ones are getting lighter in color and getting sweet. This is a great pear but it is a little harder than others. These pears can be picked from now through mid August.
I picked a Nectacot…it was very soft on the one side. These things are so weird. It almost felt like a button mushroom. I would say the taste is “syrupy” apricot flavor… This one was cracked right along the seem. Too much rain the past few days. I noticed a couple Flavor Supremes were also cracking… It needs a few more years to see if it gets better (cracking/size).
Ebony Rose from grocery store. Pretty good, but probably really good if ripened more
I went to my town’s farmers market for the first time this year and was checking for mostly stone fruit and found these, yes,Nadia fruit.Okay, the spelling is not too good and they are not really a “Pluout” or a Pluot, but I’m fairly sure they’re Nadia.
This is the only stand that had them today and nobody carried them last year,so it’s probably the first crop.I forgot to ask them when their trees were planted, maybe next week I’ll find out.I think this farm is in the Yakima area in Eastern Washington.
The fruit has more of a Plum taste, with maybe a hint of Cherry.I’m not sure if these could of ripened more on the tree, probably so,but they were fairly sweet. The first one was a little sweeter and juicier than the second.I haven’t measured the brix, but guessing maybe 15.The pit was more round like a Cherry’s than the one I tried from mine, picked early because of a possible Squirrel ate half.
For now,I think the tree is a keeper.Hopefully the fruit on the tree I have will size up like these. Brady
Great find
Those look great. Hopefully more growers start planting them.
So i’ve been complaing about Puget Gold for many years now…always had lots of bacterial spot, flavor was always so so…this year is different. I actually prefer them to my Tomcot and they are much bigger and SUPER clean. These are grown in the ground (both on the same tree) and NEVER sprayed with anything…nothing. Not even insecticide. Not too bad for this bug infested area. I have probably another 100 PG to pick…Tomcot are done–not many Tomcot this year.
Tomcot left–20 grams less then the PG (Tomcot color up better…these were growing right next to each other…most of the PG are bigger then this one)
Not sure how long i’m going to let these hang. I’m seeing brown rot on the dropped fruit (not many//a couple of them had Codling moth/one had PC) and rain is forecast for the next few days.
