What is pollinating your flowers?

This is two insects that are now my friends. Not so sure about one of these, it looks like it is ready to pounce on me stinger first.

I’ve been seeing lots of honey bees and huge bumble bees…

I went out last night with a little brush to hand pollinate some pears and a big bumble bee was working so I just let him have at it.

Maybe that’s what I need , a black and yellow striped sweater to wear when I’m pollinating,

What pears do you plant?

I have more honey bees visiting my fruit trees this year than I think I have ever had since moving back to Georgia in 2011. I don’t know what changed, but I and my plum trees are glad to see them back. God bless.

I’ve had a few bees enough to work on my berries and trees but I went out today and they were covered in bees. The difference? My husband mowed our pasture and about 1/2 acre was solid brambles. Guess they are all hunting food…

I’ve noticed a lot more bees as well…both honey and bumble bees…could be just a regional thing, or maybe it’s a good sign that the populations are coming back.

I know a lot of people in the general area who have taken to raising bees so maybe that’s the difference.

Has anyone ever made bee houses? I have a friend making bumblebee houses and mason bee houses…not sure if it makes a real difference in pollination though.

Has anyone used them and what was your experience?

You’re probably right, we have quite a few apiaries within a mile or so of our house.
