What is this called and what causes it? (Peach & Apple)

Top photo is a peach tree
Bottom photo a apple tree.

Could it be cicada damage from many years ago? If not, what causes it?

The peach tree is very sickly. It was planted maybe 4 -5 feet from the road and picks up salt when they plow the snow. (That is my guess, anyway.)

Sickly or not…it still produces. It is a White Lady peach.

Thanks

It’s a sunburn. Happens on limbs growing north direction and getting too much sun exposure on south facing bark. I have peaches with almost identical sunburn. White latex paint (50% paint, 50% water) is a recommended solution to prevent sunburn.
