What is this on my satsuma tree?

Looks like some disease or fungus. The tree is healthy otherwise. It has set fruit and is growing well.

Look like scales to me. Do you have scales as pests in your area?

I have no idea what that is, so I’m not sure. My other citrus don’t have it . Does it spread?

Yes it is scale and yes it will spread. Rub off all the ones you see on there, I usually put gloves on and squish. Look on other plants as well. Then spray something to smother any eggs… horticultural oil or soap are two standard things to use.

Thanks Scott, I will try this ASAP!

Look for ants on or around the tree and get rid of them, if present. They will farm scale just like they do with aphids. My go-to method for removing scale from citrus is a toothbrush. Make sure the bristles are not too hard.

I’ve been going after soft scale on my avocados with my bare fingers (too clumsy with gloves), but I love that idea. Could even dip it in some soap solution as you go to help go after the eggs as well. Thanks for this tip!
