What kinds of bee is this......maybe a Mason Bee?

Over the weekend I saw quite a few of these guys working my peach trees and especially my lemon tree. It is quite blue in person. I saw several honey bees and this guy is approximately the same size as the honey bee.

I searched Mason Bee on Wikipedia yesterday and it showed a yellow bee, but after a touch more research today it looks like this is a Blue Orchard Mason Bee.

That one could be the Green Berry bee (Osmia aglaia). They are related to Mason bees and usually show up a little later. Brady

You know, it looks sorta green in the picture, but it is definitely a blue color in person.

Augochloropsis Metallica

Sounds like a great name for a metal band.

I have a good colony of mason bees (friend of mine raises them) and they look very much like a housefly.

Difference is you don’t swat mason bees!

I have colonies of them around my orchard and it looks like the mason bee to me as well. If you get a good look at the face you can tell the males from the females. The males have what looks like a little white moustache ,

Fantastic pollinators, way better than European honey bees.

We have 6 boxes of honey bees for honey and pollination but when you put in some mason bees you get pollination more efficiently. Mason bees will come out and work the flowers when it is too cold or wet for honey bees.

The first kakasamo image has the appearance of one of the bumblebees, some of which can be fairly small.
