When I put the potted figs on the grass it kills the grass and makes circles. To look less unsightly should I put weed blocker and bark down, cement pavers or what do you recommend? It is a rectangular space of grass and weeds about 4 feet by 15 feet.
Bark chip or gravel both look fine and are easy to move if you need to shift the pots. Weed fabric underneath the bark helps keep it tidy longer. Pavers work too but a bit more effort to lay and less forgiving if you want to rearrange.
A picture would help.
It is just flat grassy area. They all look the same. I am not looking for perfection. Just something better than grass circles and mud under the pots. Here is an old one of the area where I tried to grow onions. It all filled in with weeds.
An edger would make it look neater, and perhaps topsoil. ![]()
I don’t want to keep it dirt. I’m done with that bed. It will just be for fig pots.
Under one pot it was loaded with ants and winged insects in the dirt. I don’t have a good photo because they ran off by the time I got my camera. But here are a few of them. Tons of ants, but they left. I guess they like the dark.
18" x 18" masonry pavers.
