What's happening today 2016?

Oh man that sucks. You could try budding. Couldn’t hurt.

I guess I didn’t say… to add to this… it fell on a newly planted tree right behind it. Will access the damage when I get back home tonight. I’m thinking if the cicadas didn’t tear up the tree this might of put a prunning on it.

It looks like the tree is right at its prime to bear fruit, this is terrible.

I went to grocery and bought these apricot, bigger than plum, a size of peach, what variety it might be? Not only the size is impressive, the stone is s

mall too.

Sorry to see that.

Clip off some mature branches soon and check for dormant buds at the base. If there are buds you can graft.

You can also graft to the stump, do bark grafts of the scions (shoots with leaves removed) around the base, do 5-6 to up the odds. That big trunk will make a new big tree in no time.

Thanks Scott! That’s a good idea… Will check to see what I have this evening.

I bought these lychee at local grocery at $1.69/lb。price is good, flavor is OK but the pit is too large, and the fruits are small. I assume these fruits are grown somewhere in S. America

Bob that is killer. OMG I am so sorry. Looks strong too and beautifully pruned. Damn!

Oh boy, one of my favorites! They taste like you are eating the sweetest flowers. So good!

It is my favorite fruits too. And this time, it is fresh, not has been frozen

Oh no, Bob! You just joined the Club of Misfortunes! It’s a club where the unexpected becomes the norm for its members. I’d tell you to withdraw from the club, but its one of those clubs that drafts unwilling members.

I hope that when membership renewal time comes up, your name is left off the list.

Oh no! Bob, that sucks!

Grab some scions and graft them somewhere else, if it’s a variety you want to save.

A few months ago, I provided a review of Chandler strawberries. It was a bad batch I ate, and they tasted like toxic Kool-Aid.

I need to update my comments on Chandler:

I ate some sun-ripened Chandlers from a local farm yesterday- right off the bush.

This batch was darker red, and tasted pretty good. Not the best strawbs I’ve ever had, but not “toxic” either. Pretty good.

So sorry to see that, Bob. Hope you can harvest some wood for budding.

Did some budding tonight. Hope my attempt is fruitful. Thanks

Thanks Matt. I did some t-budding sort of. The trunk is far gone to try to attach to it. What are my chances of cleft grafting this late? I guess won’t know if I don’t try.

Hopefully between Bob, muddy, and myself it ends with the 3 muscateers
