Wheat weevil's chew right through multiple layers of plastic bags

I had this bag of organic wheat berries on the floor waiting to make some room in the freezer to put it in to kill any weevils. Weevils beat me to it! They chewed right through multiple layers of plastic bags.

Yes. They are pretty tenacious that way. I lived in an apartment that cane with weevils. I was very upset. At least they weren’t fleas.

We don’t have Wheat Weevils but do have Grain Moths, which have similar effects on grain. We’ve found that the larvae (Waxworms) also bite right through plastic (and paper) bags. If there isn’t enough room in the fridge or freezer for grains, metal or glass containers will keep them out. We’ve also found that white flour and rice are not bothered by moths but whole grain flour and brown rice are. They seem to know which is more nutritious.
