I had never seen this until I started to grow figs myself. My family grew figs in L.A.. But they were in-ground. I read potted figs are more susceptible to splitting problems. Sure, we had some splitting of the skin with our figs. But it was more like little stretch marks, not this. When they talk about figs splitting from rain in the NE…this is what they mean.
