Got a 10 year old cherry tree that has produced nothing for 3 years. Ready to cut it off and graft; scions already in the refrigerator. Tail end of winter here with fruit tree buds expected in 3-6 weeks.
looking for advice on best time to cut the tree and insert the grafts.
I haven’t grafted cherries before but grafting after the buds start pushing is usually the best time for most trees.
If you plan on bark grafting you will want to check for bark slippage on part of branch you plan on cutting off.
