When to harvest Pomegranates

I have a dwarf pomegranate tree, in a pot in my GH. It has had a pretty good year and has several fruits at varying stages of ripeness. Problem is I don’t really know how to tell when they are ripe and ready for eating.

Is outside skin color a good indicator of ripeness? Should they start to give a bit when squeezed?

Short of cutting one open when I can’t wait anymore, anyone have a sure fire way to gauge ripeness?

TIA

I recently asked about this. I definitely look for when they kind of square up from being round. But if you have a lot I’d taste one when they start looking ready.
If you scroll down a little on the link below @Richard has shared a few great examples what to look for. Eversweet Pomegranate when to harvest

Here is another great one Pomegranate Success! in Mid-Atlantic. I live in Chesapeake VA, which is very near the coast. We have HOT humid summers, but I have had success with my pomegranates - #422 by PomGranny

And I like this one too because it can vary how to tell when they are done https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TthiVUU0hOc
