Topsoil sold around here in bags has no real soil in it. More like a potting soil mix.
Here delivered topsoil can be purchased for $20/yard. Compost $30/yard. Usually 3 or 5 yard minimum. Topsoil from the town can be picked up for free.

Here its 60 a yard for decent compost. I can get 50/50 topsoil/compost for 40 though.
Check out things like sod farms, landscaping supply stores. Its where i get mine when i need a ton.

What kind of sand is best to use Richard? They got playground sand and brown sand like is used in mortar mix.
