Which herbicide

So, I wrote Wayne Mitchem from North Carolina State. He’s a recognized authority on orchard floor management for peaches. I wrote him and mentioned I have used Alion and Sinbar as a pre-emergent for peaches and asked him if Goal would be a more cost effective substitute. This was his email response.

“In my opinion Goal does not work well for our situation in the Southeast. It must be applied during dormancy. For the money and results Alion would be my product of choice. Sinbar is an excellent herbicide but it is fairly expensive.”

I tried a ‘burndown’ product of citric acid and vegetable oil as a substitute for Roundup. (At someone’s request.)

A gallon of urine would have killed more stuff.

I use Crossbow to control broadleaf weeds in my lawn. Mainly creeping Charlie and wild violets.
I want to use Surflan A.S pre-emergent herbicide to control crabgrass and clover. I believe every year the guy who cuts the lawn brings seeds of these to my yard through his equipment. I want to spray Surflan so those seeds won’t germinate. I do all the spraying myself so my question is is it possible to mix Crossbow and Surlan in the same tank to cut down on spraying time?

My philosophy on tank mixing chemicals is that if they aren’t specifically mentioned on the label/instructions…I don’t do it. Unless your lawn is huge, it would seem making two applications is not that big of a deal?

I planted a couple shade trees, and got blamed by the yard mowing crew of ‘planting’ Bermuda grass in someone’s yard. (Blamed by the yard crew, not the homeowner.)

The lawn guy aerates with a big plugging machine…plugs the size of your thumb are pulled up.
(And he does not wash or clean equipment when going to then next yard.)

So, I know how the Bermuda got spread!

Has anyone had success eradicating Carolina Horsenettle? I had posted about this before and Richard had recommended Turflon Ester or Triclopyr 4E. Turns out Triclopyr is restricted in New York State (I wouldn’t say banned as I’ve found it in some products, but I can’t buy it in higher concentrates). A pasture / broadleaf herbicide would probably be ideal, I don’t need to kill off the grasses. I’m also concerned about drift as my nursery bed is in this field and from what I’ve read the herbicides most effective are used for brush control. I understand multiple applications are expected to get this under control. I’m just not sure what to use at this point.
