I am planting my persimmon orchard this spring and I have a lot of trees to get into the ground. I was wondering if you’d be able to browse the below list and please let me know which cultivars of American and hybrids need to be planted in a different location to not cause seeded fruit in the rest of the varieties.
I would also like to know which of the hybrids have the more attractive foliage similar to kaki persimmon, as I’d like to plant these ones closer to the house as they’re very ornamental.
I appreciate the time to browse this list thoughtfully to help me get my orchard laid out correctly Thank you!!
I might just end up planting them together if I can’t get more info. Yes I was able to find almost all of them as trees from a couple different sources I will mostly be planting them along a fence in a straight line.
The main thing to consider is choosing varieties that don’t make male flowers.
Most cultivars are decended from Early Golden which makes male flowers, so hard to say which ones won’t throw the odd male flower.
If I were you I’d narrow it down to 3-4 cultivars and focus more on Americans vs Hybrids. What do you intend on using the fruit for and why does it have to be seedless?
Would like to add that Kassandra is very ornamental and would make a good yard tree.
I don’t know your location well enough to speak with confidence, but I’m not sure that there’s anywhere in my state that is far enough removed from wild American persimmons to guarantee that there won’t be some degree of pollination.
Sounds like you’re going to have an amazing fencerow!
