White fleshed PawPaw variety?

Awesome, Thanks I’ll add one when you’re back in stock for next season.

Is this a white Shenandoah?

@Petey
No that one was a local wild tree.
Blake at Peaceful Heritage will be releasing it this year as “Ballarama”.

Oh, I think I saw that on the Facebook group! How did it taste / what did it taste like?

Excited to see it on @Blake’s site — I’m creating my spreadsheet for spring 2024 orders :slight_smile:

Its been a few years since i had it but it was good with no bad aftertaste. I havent been able to get fruit from it since then so i grafted it onto one of my trees at home so i can actually get the fruit and compare it to known varieties.

I found a tree with white flesh fruit in a nearby park yesterday. I had a few very light orange/yellow fruits from this park in the past but this was a spot across a creek that I never bothered with before so definitely a different patch. The taste was almost identical to how I remember a cherimoya tasting. It was 100% annona flavor. No mango, no banana, no notes of coconut. So very interesting for a paw paw (but inferior in my opinion) and the texture was smooth as butter, no fibers. I could see why people would add a white variety to their collection. If someone had this as their first paw paw experience, though, they would probably not understand what all the hype was about.

Are you in Florence KY? If so maybe it’s @preston’s tree!

I’m in Saint Louis, Missouri. If anyone was interested in sneaking in a pole saw I could show you where the tree is at.

If you can get a dormant stick of it this winter I’ll graft it in the spring.

Times change.
