When you cut it off, was there a hole inside? Pesticides for currants

What kind of hole? Not really, the middle was just brown/black.

Nvm. It looks like it is borers. What can I do to protect other branches?

You need to remove the affected cane’s as low as possible. Burn them or dispose in garbage. Don’t put them on a compost pile.

My currants have borers inside of stems. But still grow well enough
