This family has been at our property for many days. They can actually fly over my fence.

Been living here 6 years. Only saw a coyote twice in that time. Within 2 nights of hanging this trail cam behind my house I see a coyote on it.

Caterpillars, including this huge one, almost completely defoliating this young Sapote tree. Apparently they are giant swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. The white markings are not paint, although I do paint the trunk of these trees. Apparently it’s camouflage that resembles bird droppings  . Question is what to do about them?

Take a bow. You’ve been chosen to grow food for an attractive insect. Not everyone who aspires to host swallowtail butterflies and giant silk moths gets to do so.

@CRhode, we are so focused on growing fruit that we do tend to forget the other blessings around us. The mother of these larvae was flying around the yard a few weeks ago. She was a sight to behold. I’m going to try to gently relocate them to a large citrus tree. They’re running out of leaves on this one and I would really like this tree to recover.
