Wanted to suggest many learn to propagate on some really easy to propagate trees first. The easiest trees are weeping willows. These are some gorgeous weeping willows one of my sisters has. When I saw her on the first of June I took some pencil lead thick cuttings from her tree that were unnoticeable. Another sister taught me to propagate these before I was in kindergarten school. The leaves will dry up and you will believe the cuttings died but they didn’t. Simply take your cuttings and place them in a cup of water on a window ledge. Refill water that evaporates over time which is usually 2 or 3 times over a month. In one month your cuttings will root as shown below. If you want a faster version take a branch I’ve done up to 15 footers and stick them in mud beside a pond or other water source and over a month they will root. If you don’t gave a pond improvise fill up a kiddy pool with water and sit your pots in the pool water. This why you never want a willow near your septic tank! If you have a wet spot they can grow in water.

Many house plants are propagated using this same easy method. This is how the nurseries raise all those house plants.

You don’t even need the water. I just stab sticks in the ground. About half make it. I’ve got weeping and corkscrew.
