From all available sources, it appears that “Winter Mexican” is supposed to be a Type B avocado, but the one I have in a pot under lights is indisputably following a Type A flowering pattern (female for a few hours each morning, male from early afternoon until evening). It’s small (~3ft) so I’m not expecting much in the way of fruit setting, but I wanted to perfect my hand pollination techniques for the coming years when my trees get moved into a greenhouse.
Could this be caused by my light schedule (16 hrs on, 8 off), or is this a sign the plant might have been mislabeled and be a different variety?
