I have all three of those yellows; fall gold double gold, and Annie. But I only have this year’s berries to judge from so far. They were planted only last year. But my impression so far has been that fall gold is mostly sweetness with less flavor. I like raspberries that have more than just sweetness going for them. I think I prefer double gold or Annie so far for taste. But also, at least, here Annie appears to be a huge Japanese beetle magnet compared to the other two.
Went out of town a few days… green beans and carrots making progress… still getting regular good rains here.

I know I planted these a little on the late side, but looks like we’ll get some of @Marta’s “Optimal” tomatoes this year:
My CH Fig has a few shoots over 9 ft tall now… loaded with figs too. At several nodes double figs… cool.
Checked it last week… none were ripening yet… we went out of town a few days (had to get our son back to TN Tech for fall semester… tuition, rent, food, supplies)…
Back home yesterday evening. Checked my fig today and 3 were ripe and ready… several others getting there.
Last year we got ripe figs until Dec 3.

Wish i could keep them alive over winter here. I miss eating them.
TN, you want to borrow my 10 foot orchard ladder? What do you feed all your plants and trees.
@aap — I gave all my new fruit trees 50 lbs compost early spring… and a half handful of balanced organic fertilizer + a little Epsom salt… I did the organic fertilizer and Epsom salt early spring and mid June.
My jujube trees grew 4 ft in spring… early summer. Too much I think. Going to give them less next year.
Ps… I have a 8 ft step, and 6 ft step… I may have to use one by fall. The past 2 years they ripened slowly at first, and then rushed in towards the end when it gets cooler. I have a LOT more fig fruit on now than last year… perhaps we get enough to make some fig jam, dried figs, etc…
I ate one for lunch/desert… very very good.
Happy !

I am harvesting these Ayers and Moonglow Pears for last three four days. Took some pictures and now posting. Harvested all except couples left. These are not all just showing some. These were not sprayed with anything just survived on their own. I did gets few pecks from birds here and there but nothing major earlier got some quince rust but removed those effected though not many.
“I feel like that I am showing off too much.”
I did cut open one Ayers and it was very good. Both tree are on 4th leaf and I am very happy with them. These will ripe inside and then goes to family and friends.
Don’t worry about showing off. That’s what this is for. Your pears (and everything) are amazing. Will you can any or preserve in any way?
@Naeem — you need a team behind you just processing all the good stuff you grow.
you are awesome at growing stuff for sure.
In a skillet over med heat… a chunk of butter, diced pears, some maple syrup… simmer until soft.
Very good on French Toast, or regular toast, or pancakes.
Pear Preserves are so good… it has been several years since I had any but I do remember.

Naeem just keep on trucking. He is amazing. I have never joined a forum with so many spirited growers.
Tony, has been quiet for a while.
Thanks @TNHunter for the recipe will try it.
Thanks @aap.
Thanks . To be honest never tried anything with pears and I would love to try some if there is no sugar involve.
Scarlet prince peach, flavor queen and emerald drop pluots, and satsuma plum. One of the peaches was particularly huge by my standards. Quite delicious too. Not the prettiest fruit but it will eat.
Those remind me of my LaCrescents. They were an early plum, very mild flavor, no sour skin, low production.
Your picking Ayers and Moonglow from 8-15 to sept.?
This is my first year of Ayers fruiting and I have been struggling with moonglow. I’m a little west of Leesburg, Va so should be close to the same times.
This year I picked 08-17-21 to 08-20-21
Last year was one week late like around 08-27-20
Pears are tricky to pick but as you know you can not ripe pears on tree so you have to bring inside to let ripen on counter. Just watch and pick one if easily comes off or lift it . Its trial and error lot of people struggles to pick ripe including me.
I have a lot of pear trees. Just the first year for ayers. Have you been putting moonglow in the fridge for a while? I have been struggling to get them to ripen right.
No these are sitting on my big dinning table and will put them in fridge when they change green to little yellow. If I put them in the fridge right now they will take months to ripe but after sitting on table for a week they are good to eat and rest will keep ripening in fridge.
Thanks. I have been going straight to the fridge. Will give that a try. I have not picked them yet, but the hornets are letting me know it’s time.
