Naeem, you got to be the most successful fruit grower and perhaps the healthiest person/ family on this forum, well in the top five, Andrew fit right in there also and a couple others, Tippy? I might rank 105, probably higher, like 1505. I try so hard.
Thanks @mrsg47 , @aap and @everyone.
Learned everything right here on our very informative forum and still learning every day.
@ztom do the tree branches tend to grow upward? I got a couple of gage varieties that are like that. And do you have Brix meter to measure the sweetness?
Of the 5 Lodi I had, the best tasting one was still green (some recommend you pick the fruit before it ripens for pies and baking). The last apple was snagged by a racoon and apparently it wasnât impressed by it either (apparently my first and ONLY Breaky apple was more to his/her liking). I have 4 Lodi on G.222 and at this point I donât think Iâm going to transfer any from the nursery bed to the orchard. I have 702 trees (148 varieties) and not enough room in the orchard for that many. 262 are already planted out. Lodi, I expect, is one variety that will be cut from the line-up.
the last suncrest peach. this was the best one, flavor seems correlated with the amount of redness which varied with how high in the tree they were. If I can keep ahead of peach leaf curl this is a keeper. also grown by the local farm stand places and recommended by osu
Yes, very upright growth on the tree. They were averaging 22-24 brix this year, the ones pictured werenât measured, might have been higher. 3 days straight of heavy rain is taking itâs toll on the remaining fruit.
These look great! B/n Fall Gold and Double Gold, which one would you recommend for sweetness and flavor? I am leaning towards Double Gold for the fantastic color, but Fall Gold seems the more popular one, so wanted to make sure.
Iâd rate both of them very close. They are both delicious. Assuming you have Anne, Iâd recommend Double Gold for diversity. My daughter loves the color and itâs vigorous as well
Thanks. No I donât. Would it you rate Anne higher over these two? I wasnât sure if it would do well here.
I havenât tried Annie. May be misread your post on the other thread. No idea how it performs here. You definitely need a yellow as it Is significantly different than reds. Fall Gold is mostly orange colored, has a bushy growth and less vigorous. Fall Gold and Double Gold can withstand the heat here in the Bay Area. Caroline spoils more quickly.
Sorry, yeah I have spot for only one and not able to decide between Anne, Fall Gold and Double Gold. All of them have got good reviews on this forum
My Japanese plums, cherry plum, and pluots are done. Mirabelles and green gages about to come online.
Polly White Peach very sweet with just a hint of peachy flavor, too sad only 4 left on the tree.
(Peach #2 multi graft 08-18-21) .
Itâs painful to watch all the stuff you all are able to grow and eat. Every day you guys are bringing in nothing but best in stone fruits and veggies.
I have to do with just this, wait, wait wait. A couple measly Pomeloâs.
Have to wait till I see this again.
Violette de Soleis.
I love pomelos. The grass is always greener âŚ
