No rain for over a month at this orchard in Virginia has left the fallen apples in their PYO block in good shape. I took the pics below last Friday. Starting tomorrow, they are letting pickup trucks in for U-Pick off the ground for $50 a truck load. I was wondering what was gonna happen to all that fruit. Hog heaven for some lucky hogs maybe.

One of the local orchards fills a huge nylon bag full of drops and sells them for $10. There is probably about 1 bushel of apples in that nylon bag. It weighs quite a bit. I use them for my horses and leave them at the barn so others can give them to their horses or they can eat them as well. Nothing really wrong with them except they are drops and not perfect.

I forgot to add, walk ins can pick off the ground in the largest container they can carry for $5. It’s uphill to the checkout!

Looks like a LOT of good apples on the ground. I hate to see them go to waste. It does remind me of the other orchard that does the $10 a bag apples. I go there and want to just start tasting the apples on the ground.
