Gevuina Avellana is native to parts of South America where the climate is not dissimilar to the Pacific NW.
They are a relative of the macadamia nut, but very cold tolerant — down to zone 8. There are apparently large trees in England and Ireland.
The nuts look similar to Macadamia but are supposedly even tastier, with a hazelnut flavor. They are supposed to grow well in shade/filtered sun locations.
My question is— is anyone growing these? Anyone have a mature tree?
