First time I ordered from them, and they are not getting back to me about a mislabeled plant (Fuzzy kiwi delivered instead of an Arctic kiwi). I am afraid they will be all out of the Pasha male by the time they do get back to me, if they ever will.
I only ordered from them because they had Pasha for a decent price, so I’d be really bummed if they don’t replace it.
Emailed them on Monday, left them a phone message on Wednesday and again today (Friday) … nada. I would usually be more patient, but their stock is slowly running out.
No I wanted to but knew it would be better to drive there to order to make sure I got the right plant or tree first.
But no reply for a week to me is rude and not acceptable for any nursery after their mistake. Maybe they’ll surprise you and it’s been shipped after your email but that’s wishful thinking. Hope you get your kiwi.
Not recently.
I had one experience with them. It was bad. They were extremely rude on the phone. They didn’t ship for 3 weeks. And then shipped to a wrong address.
Uff, that does not bode well for me. They didn’t ship my order for a long time, either, but neither did OGW, so I figured it’s a zone thing.
I’m amazed you managed to talk to someone over the phone. I only get either a message stating their mailbox is full, or a message stating to leave them a message.
I got oak leaf papayas from them and a Jamun. Worked great, flowering (olp)while having a seedling under a year. I didn’t need customer service abd they were the only nursery I could find that sold it which someone here pointed me in the direction of. Thanks to whoever it was I forgot.
Can you get sunchokes/jerusalem artichoke at a grocery store near you in winter? Super easy grocery store planting. I kept maybe 20 in the fridge for 3 months. I’ve never seen a tuber sprout and grow so fast.
Ive ordered from them maybe 2 years ago and got the plants with no issues. They do try to hire recently incarcerated individuals iirc, so that may be some of the issues as some of them have to be taught customer service and retail skills.
I could send chokes but it would be in November after our first frost. you can plant them in spring, just keep em in damp sawdust in a cool dark place until
I have red contorted tubers and tan ones that are a little thicker. both will make you gassy as anything unless you let the frost get them before you dig, and you gotta cook them right too. they’re tasty though
Thanks for the offer! I actually went and got some from an Etsy seller called Four Oaks. I got the Supernova variety, supposed to be less yields but stay closer to the stalk so they spread less. I also got Yacon and walking onions from them, which were both things I wanted.
I planted mine in late fall/early winter. If your ground doesn’t freeze (as I’m sure it doesn’t since mine doesn’t and you’re much warmer) you can plant them year round. They would keep in the ground easier than in a package.
I came to the conclusion that the place is a scam for first-time buyers. They don’t expect repeat business. My one and only order arrived broken and there was no customer service to deal with it.
If i remember correctly they are newer owners of Rolling River nursery.
I ordered from RR many times a while back, but not sure about Planting Justice.
Yeah, the soil never freezes here. I am much more worried about them shooting their tubers like 4 feet underground and becoming unharvestable like my sweet potatoes did last year, which is why I got a variety that is supposed to stay close to the stalk. How loose sand for soil is probably its only benefit.
I have sandy soil and the common jerusalem artichoke variety had all its tubers in the top foot of soil. They were also mostly within two feet of the stem but I think even the wild ones don’t put the tubers too deep
