The disease & pest ID thread has gotten unwieldy; I don’t even know how to post on it!
So, see photo for issue on 6 year old Sierra Beauty. Google was absolutely useless. It just doesn’t look like the general fall decline of leaves I usually see. Northern Nevada.
It’s some nutritional chlorosis I think, but what the cause is I don’t know. Iron deficiency is a common reason but what caused the iron shortage? I’m sure there are other causes of chlorosis (magnesium, potassium deficiency?).
All of mine browned out on the edges after my last fungicide treatment. But the interiors are still very green. I sprayed because some were getting a yellowing leaf spot.
Do you use any sort of tree fertilizer on your trees during the year? Have you done a soil sample?
I use a 6-8-12 mix in spring that has a wide mineral spectrum. With a bit of yellowing I poured a wet 5-5-5 mix at the middle of august.
I had a pear tree with discoloring like that last year. This year those leaves do not look like that at all. They just look like regular fall leaves.
