Summer Delight
Flavor Delight
@Oregon_Fruit_Grow my Leah cot and Summer delight Aprium only about 3 months old from whip bare root. They are growing well so far in Seattle areas. No fruit or diseases yet. Very like them. I will keep updating. 6.28.23
Could we get an update on your Leah cot and Summer Delight apriums @Vincent_8B? Would love to get your insights on the vigor and health of each tree, as well as if you experienced any fruit set this year.
@Jakefromstatefarm my Aprium both of them had no fruit yet. This summer I am too busy with all house remodeling so my Summer delight so dry out hopefully it wasn’t dying. Or I might remove both if they don’t fruit in our climate here. Below their today pictures.
For those growers tempted to apply lime sulphur, you might consider less harmful agents to deter insects like borers. I agree with Stan, apricots are very sensitive but are very susceptible to borers, I have lost apricot trees here from borer damage. So I have not recently tried to replace them. Peach rootstocks are also very susceptible to borers. Several winters ago I nearly killed one of my topworked cherry trees with dormant sprays of lime sulphur, so I no longer use it. Around all my peach rootstocks I plant garlic which so far has been an effective deterent. I post this response now as it’s a good time to order garlic bulbs to plant this fall. If you Google this question, AI will provide more insight on why it works and other ways of incorporating galic into your sprays if you want to use it as your dormant spray: does garlic repell borers?
The below website also mentions nasturtiums but since they attract aphids I would avoid having them near my plum trees.
