Their 5 gallon is looking more like 7 gallon. I love it! Haven’t seen anyone talk about this nursery, I’m hoping it’s a legit sweetcrisp. But it is huge.
That is not a fruit nursery and the bush appears to be a seedling. I hope it has decent fruit, but I’d never purchase a seedling blueberry. More often than not, you get what you pay for.
However, I’m not familiar with Rabbiteyes, Perhaps they haven’t been improved much via human intervention and breeding, but sources suggest they have.
These have been the biggest I’ve ever gotten from a nursery and here’s a photo of the smallest I’ve ever gotten. Also there’s 6 plants in this photo below.
If you haven’t yet, you should search up “sweetcrisp” in the forum.
Below is a photo of the berries I’ve gotten from the plants i recently bought in the other photo below. The berries can be big and delicious even for small plants. It just depends on how well you take care of them. The plant i just got today is 4x as big as these.
I’m not meaning to attack you, just to raise questions for clarity.
I just went back to the site and now realize I overlooked the fact that they call the variety Alfalfa, which suggests it is a grafted plant to a superior variety, so it appears you are getting a great deal, However, you may want more than the single variety this company offers.
That said, your advice should be very helpful to those seeking a bearing age rabbiteye blueberry. I’d start with that one myself if I wanted to grow that species.
I have a few more at my mom’s farm, her house, my mom’s neighbor’s house, and some that i haven’t yet picked up from another nursery along with 1 that I’m waiting to restock at yet another nursery nearby and 2 that I’m hoping someone else doesn’t pick up from another nursery so that i can snag it (it’s on hold for them).
I have several sweetcrisp bushes and the berries look nothing like the ones pictured above (the pic with the quarter). Sweetcrisp have a very unique looking blossom end that is pretty distinct.
Can’t speak to your bush, but I have bought several trees from them and was totally satisfied. They sometimes have great sales with free shipping also.
Simpson Nurseries supplies Home Depot. My local HD had some of the Southern Highbush Blueberries for sale in early summer that had ripe fruit on them. Nice sized berries.
I ordered a Prairiefire Crabapple from them last winter. When it bloomed, it was white flowered so that tree was mislabeled. But a very nice tree as it was well branched and large for the price.
