I’m wondering if there are folks here that use their products (or can recommend other durable items) and can tell me their opinions on their various size cells & trays?
I am SO tired of the cheap plastic stuff from big box stores that if I make one small error, crack or break, rendering them useless to be able to contain water when growing my seedlings…
Mostly worth it though I’ve had some breakage and crack over time. The sturdier trays available from Greenhouse Megastore are not as overbuilt looking but seem to last just as well and may be less prone to hairline cracking. Significantly cheaper too.
I have a lot from Bootstrap Farmer. The 1020 trays are very nice. I have the shallow ones, the ones with drainage, etc. I was very much not impressed by their plug trays, but I might just not be a plug tray person. Removing 128 plugs was a pain. I have their 3" seed starting pots and they’ve held up nicely but the multicolored ones do fade. I would probably get the plug tray inserts if I had to do it again as they wobble less in the 1020s. I think most of their brand is made in the USA, but not all, so if that’s important read the description closely.
I also have the heavy duty 1020s from Greenhouse Megastore and agree that they’re comparable. Epic Gardening also makes some nice items that are USA made - I love their 6 pack seed starting trays.
I’m not a big plastic person, but I at least try to avoid single use. I’ve had some of the stuff from BF for 4 years.
The multicolored trays haven’t faded on me, but the multicolored 3’" pots in pink, orange, and purple have. Blue and green (and black) are good if I recall correctly but I would have to double check.
