Breeding Nectarines with Apricots

How do you know what the Chromosone number is?

I had information of the google grape breeding forum, a database you could type in the genus, but google groups will not let me in to find it .

Not sure the exact species at this moment (maybe Pin cherry)
would be interesting to breed these to make some tree’s small for rootstock.

Or also some very potent wild flavors for things like jam or even drying
(with more flesh , and not so tiny as the wild ones are , but full of flavor)

I tried Years ago A sweet cherry with a Wild Plum (mother)
for a few hours cutting off the male parts of flowers)
It rained though the next day.

Would love to know my time is not being wasted if I try more experiements
Garden web (just browsing it) mentioned they were not close

I think it’s pretty interesting what your doing !

Since both are closely related, they probably have the same chromosome.

Any fruit from these crosses this year?

Calired produced a couple of fruit and the Nectarcot had premature fruit drop.

Calired interspecific peach.

That’s an hybrid of nectarine + peach + apricot… that should be great! :yum:

It’s okay, maybe not great yet.I grafted a scion or two,to a Peacotum a few years ago and the first fruit was like an immature Peach, not a lot of sugar. The second year, might have been better.
There was praise about the variety,in years past, among different forums. It could be a location situation, that produces better flavor.
