Buddy grafting tape getting crazy expensive

Best price and quality I have located it Fedcoseeds. My order came and is identical to what I got from Amazon last year for free shipping and about half the cost. It’s so often the shipping that makes things expensive. https://fedcoseeds.com/ogs/parafilm-grafting-budding-tape-8974

You folks must be doing a lot of grafting. I bought my Parafilm M roll for around $26 about 8 years ago. Just about running out of it now. I used up a couple of rolls of buddy tape at $22 each and maybe a roll of parafilm ($12) in the same duration. 1000s of grafts done.

The last time I bought was a few years ago so I don’t know if this is the same but it does say Parafilm M.

Thanks! Looks like it is a little over a third of the price of buddy tape per foot, so it’s worth giving a try at least whenever my buddy tape runs out (probably not for at least another year or two).

Huge discount on perforated buddy tape!

Edit: seems the sale is over for now unfortunately. Not sure if it will be back again at a later date or not.

Just picked up 6 rolls. What a deal!
I expect this to last most of my life.

I seem to have missed it! Nice to see some folks got it!

I got my order from Oesco today. It only took 3 days to get.

Oesco is a well run, honest company. For people who live in the northeast, it’s a nice destination for a scenic day-trip, being located in the middle of New England woods, seemingly in the middle of nowhere in a old brick building typical of manufacturing structures built over a century ago before such industry moved south and then out of the country altogether. The store showcases lots of tools that are not sold elsewhere. They also sell Rears sprayers which manufacture the small estate sprayer I use in my business. Their location is surprising because they serve mainly commercial growers, who in the northeast, tend to be in NYS, especially in the Hudson Valley and up near Lake Ontario.

Im extremely pleased with them. I ordered buddy tape from one green world 11 days ago and still havent gotten a shipping confirmation or anything. And i spent the same amount of money for 1 roll as I did for 4 rolls from Oesco.

Amazon currently has Parafilm M - 5259-04LC PM996 All Purpose Laboratory Film (4" x 125’) roll for $20.92 with subscription. There’s also a 30% coupon so my price was only $15.17. Without subscription it’s $22.02, but you can subscribe and cancel when it’s delivered.
I don’t think I’ll run out of this roll anytime soon.

I picked up some parafilm earlier this year, but it feels too thick, not quite stretchy enough for the delicate process of grafting. It’s called Parafilm M JX903 on the Amazon listing Amazon.com. I wonder if I got the right stuff.

At this point (being very new) I strongly prefer vinyl flagging tape. My success rate this year with the flagging tape on pear grafts was 14 out of 15 so I guess it doesn’t matter either way.

Thanks Dennis, I was going to mention fedco for parafilm.

This year I started using zip ties over parafilm to compress the graft union, then brush on treecoat over the parafilm and zip ties. I snipped off the zip ties after a few weeks and I’m happy with the results.

I’ve purchase and used that before. I find it more prone to breaking in cooler weather. I usually leave it in the sun a bit before use then and pre-stretch the piece a little before applying it.
I’ve never use the “true” parafilm before since the 4"x125’ roll has always been too expensive, but at this price I’m willing to give it a try.

I forget, is anything comparable to the Aglis japanese tape (but not as expensive)?
Nice to have that super stretchyness that Aglis has and won’t break in colder 50-60F grafting days in March/April.

I thought the Fedco one and the Parafilm M are kinda alright, but still are not very stretchy unless warmer weather. Very annoying to have them snap off multiple times in 1 wrapping session.
My Aglis is almost done so thought I’d ask be4 i reorder more.
Can’t believe China hasn’t copied it and put it on Amazon (only tried some junks ones my friend bought off Amazon that basically felt like SaranWrap)

i use Buddy tape. i keep it in my warmest pocket when it’s chilly out side.

i ordered a single roll a few years ago on sale and they sent me 20 rolls in a bag. i do not know why and they said go on and keep it. i would have to look to see who made the kind mistake in packing

i think i gave away 3 at my free table thing and i am pretty sure i gave one to @NuttingBumpus when he brought a few sticks to me. can’t remember but I’m glad i don’t need to buy right now. these are high prices
