Noticed bud worms eating all the new buds on some of my older apple trees…guess I gotta find a day with no rain and spray.

I’ve never heard of these! How do they taste? They look like they are a unique color and texture for guava relatives.

Hi! This is a great fruit. It smells like a tropical perfume of many fruits and the flavor is like a tropical juice! :yum:

This guabiroba is campomanesia xantocarpa and is from the family of sete capotes.

Unfortunately, a branch full of flowers (turning into fruits) broke off in our pom tree. I’m going to leave that as I have seen fruits ripen even with a split and I don’t see too many chances for a disease in our dry weather until Fall. Will prune that later after harvest (if it survives that long)

Wow. Nice peaches. What amazes me is the differences in our climates. According to Google, I am just 43 miles south of you (as the crow flies) about a 50 minute drive, and yet my Sauzee Swirl peaches have not even sized up yet and are 2-3 weeks from ripening. San Jose is ringed in by mountains and gets much warmer than we do. We are 20 miles from the coast and get a coastal breeze but not the fog.
Hollister is about 300’ above sea level and San Jose is only 82’.

I can wait for Sauzee Swirl, an excellent peach by the way, as my Earlitreat peaches are now ripe and Flordaking peaches will soon follow.

Looks nice. It is interesting indeed. I probably live closer to the bay than others in forum from San Jose (closer to Milpitas). You are right that the Los Buellis Hills close to my home prevents the fog/breeze from setting in. My Sauzee Swirl peaches are usually ripe around May 15. This year they were delayed by one week due to colder nights we have been having this spring. How do you rate Flordaking peaches?

Last summer I dug up some daylilies. I didn’t replant them. I just dropped them on the ground and forgot about them. Here they are now. A tough plant.

Happy Returns? (There are over 85,000 named daylilies).

Don’t know the name. It is very early flowering. Other daylilies at my location don’t flower till early July.
