Burford Redflesh Apple Disease Resistance?

Please share any experience with the Burford Redflesh Apple tree especially with respect to disease resistance.

Trees of Antiquity rates the disease resistance as: “Excellent”.

Pomiferous indicates: “Resistant to most diseases”

Cummins Nursery reports:

Fireblight: Resistant
Powdery Mildew: Resistant
Cedar-Apple Rust: Resistant
Apple Scab: Resistant

Ripening date: Oct 20

Looks like a good wildlife fruit tree to me.

I’d love to hear about this apple as well…i have it grafted but not fruiting yet

@Loren I have 2 Burford Red Fleshed grafted last year & they are noticeably hardy growers on G890 in my N TX growing zone 8A. A solid choice!

Thanks for your response! I’ll be planting 10 in the spring of 2027 in northern Michigan (4b/5a). If you are willing do occasional updates. I will also share my observations over time.

@Loren Sure! Happy to check back in with you. Im trialing over 160 apple cultivars.

My notes show Burford Red Flesh, aka Clifford, growing zone is 5-9 so it has a big growing area. Hocking Hills in Ohio grows it easily & he has shared its a reliable apple that he often brings to apple talks with children & they love it.
