Canning peaches OUT of the kitchen!

@Barb
Thanks for that link, especially the description of the trough canner. I just ordered a used one- such a great design for outdoor propane or wood-fired canning.

Oh, I’m so glad! Yes, that site has such amazing content in both breadth and knowledge. I wish I could find the new post about the outdoor kitchen. I think it came out just last week. It might be so new that she hasn’t had a chance to link it, yet…

How did your Redhaven peaches do this year Jolene? Mine did great here and I WAY too many peaches to work with so I had to do it in shifts. I use buckets to put mine in. It was a lot of work getting these peaches done before they go bad, just as you well know.

Our trees are overloaded. We had a hive of bees kinda close to the heaviest loaded tree…thats why they werent thinned. They just moved the bees this morning.

Yes, Redhavens are quite reliable, tasty, very juicy, but dont keep. I hope to sell some this year as canning may not happen…at least not a weeks worth.

So true, these peaches do not keep. So once they start ripening you better get busy to keep up with them for sure.
