Got lots of burrows dug in the grass. Maybe 7 or 8 that I’ve spotted. One was near this stump. I mark them with a blue flag.
They both have the same kind of stripes. What do you think it is? Or does it not matter…just trap em!

Just trap them. Adorable yet destructive creatures…
Ground squirrel. To keep them off your fruit trees, build tree cages with 1" welded-wire mesh and underground barriers.
Around here that’s a chipmunk
Chipmunks. I think 13 lined ground squirrels would be in PA, which this is not one. Golden Mantled Ground squirrels look like that, but they seem to be west of the Rockies.
Yeah, it’s a chipmunk. It has that pointed face.
Where I am, we have the golden mantled ground squirrels, and the California ground squirrel, but I haven’t spotted a Chipmunk.
We raised some orphan baby California ground squirrels because I’m a flipping idiot.
For us in Wisconsin, the ground squirrels have spots (we called them gophers because we don’t have real gophers) and chipmunks have lines.
A cat or two ought to take care of either one for you.
